USDA WATER SYSTEM GRANT
Notice of Intent to File Application
The Yomba Shoshone Tribe has filed a grant application with the USDA – Rural Development Utilities Program for the purpose of financing an Environmental Assessment to meet the present and future needs of the drinking water demands of the Yomba Tribal Water System. This system serves the homes that are connected to the drinking water tank as well as all the tribal administration buildings, church and maintenance yard.
The total cost of the Environmental Assessment project is approximately $30,000 which will be funded by this grant from the USDA (there are no loan funds attached to the project).
The USDA approved funding to hire consultants to do an Environmental Assessment required by the BLM, so that we could relocate a new water tank as part of a complete rehabilitation of the community water system
Public discussion and comment is open on November 10, 2017 during the Tribal Council Meeting at 9 am located within the Administration Office at Yomba Shoshone Indian Reservation.
The entire Water System Project is estimated to cost over $1 million and construction is anticipated to begin Spring 2018.
